Ochs wrote the song in 1963 & recorded it twice, for New Folks Volume 2 (a 1964 Vanguard compilation recording) and his 1966 "Phil Ochs in Concert" album on Elektra.
Joan Baez recorded it in 1964 & it came out in 1965 on her "Joan Baez/5" album.
