About the Song
Written by Ruth in 2015. She sung this song at a meeting of the Albany city council. This recording was made during the Round Robin at Peoples Music Network gathering held at Camp Kinderland in Tolland MA in June 2016.
No we will not tolerate
Islamophobia driven by hate
And so we resolve, where as it be
Love shall prevail in our communities
Love, love, love, love
Love shall prevail in our communities
Speaking out I say that I will stand
With my Muslim neighbors my hands in their hands [or “hand in hand”]
And so we resolve, where as it be
Peace shall prevail in our communities / Peace (x4)...
Precious are our lives, sacred we be
We are one people, we’re one family
And so we resolve, where as it be
Friendship shall prevail in our communities
Friends (x4) / Friendship shall prevail…
Though I am not Muslim, [I know] it could have been me
Had I been the Jew I am in Hitler’s Germany
And so we resolve, where as it be
Courage shall prevail in our communities
Courage (x4) Courage shall prevail…
(tag): Friendship shall prevail in our communities
Peace shall prevail in our communities
Love shall prevail in our communities
