About the Song

New union lyrics to the tune of "Dixie".

Si Kahn writes: "As far as I know, these songs were never recorded.  They were written by me of by me, or by me and and Rev. James Orange when we were both on the organizing staff of the Textile Workers Union of America (TWUA) during the J.P. Stephens campaign in the late 1970s.  They were printed on an 11 x 17 folded over songsheet with many other parodies.  I no longer have a copy myself, but I know there’s one in my archives at the Southern Folklife Collection at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill."
