Don Grooms

Grooms (1930-98) was a Cherokee Indian raised in Cherokee NC who lived the latter part of his life in Gainesville FL. He won the prestigious Florida Folk Heritage Award in 1996.  He taught for more than three decades in the College of Journalism and Communications at the University of Florida, was influenced by the late “Father of Florida Folk", Will McLean.
